Hypnotherapy

There are many definitions of hypnosis, but the one I prefer was proposed by Milton Erickson, MD, one of the best and most influential medical hypnotherapists of all time: “The hypnotic trance may be defined, for purposes of conceptualization, as a state of increased awareness and responsiveness to ideas”. By turning down the switch on one’s incessant distracting/disturbing thought activity and catalyzing a profound state of relaxed receptivity, the full power of the mind can be activated to achieve maximum results. This can be applied to health & healing and/or advancing human potential.

Physical/Psychological Applications: The American Psychological Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Dental Association, and British Medical Association have all recognized hypnosis as a viable therapeutic tool with many practical applications. A recent review of The National Library of Medicine, also known as PubMed, uncovered over 10,000 articles concerning the effectiveness of medical hypnosis. The documented effective uses of hypnosis in medicine are wide-ranging, and include, among others:

  • Stress Management
  • Pain Management
  • Fibromyalgia Symptoms
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Migraines
  • Weight Reduction/Gain
  • Stop Smoking/Drinking
  • Conquering Fears and Phobias
  • Controlling Anxiety/Depression/Anger
  • Preparing for Surgery/Childbirth/Dental procedures
  • Sexual Dysfunction
